Review - Vaanam
‘Vaanam’ had a very good length of expectation much prior to the release. With ‘KO’ making a grand opening last week, there were whole lot of confusion in town whether ‘Vaanam’ will release or not today. But with an effortful gesture, the producers have managed to release the film.
It has been a year we had Simbhu’s film released after the grand success of ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’. To start off with, its newcomer Krish, a versatile filmmaker from Telugu film industry, who has made a remarkable start in Kollywood now.
‘Vaanam’ keeps you adhered to the core as you’ll feel the different emotions through the characters. A film proves to be successful if it touches your heart.
Final Word! ‘Vaanam’ is a glorious masterpiece, something newly experienced in Tamil film industry.
Chennai: The film revolves around five different stories of Cable Raja (Silambarasan), who woos down a beautiful rich girl (Jasmine) by lying that he’s a rich guy. She wants him to book couple passes for the New Year Celebration Party that will cost Rs. 40,000/-
Tuticorin: Widow mother (Saranya) and her father-in-law raise money for their family by owning a small business of handloom. Unable to pay back the debt with interest money, the lender (Kadhal Thandapani) takes her son as a hostage, which stops his education. Unable to raise money, the mother decides to sell of her kidney and they start to Chennai.
Coimbatore: Rahim (Prakash Raj) has a bitter past as he remains in the bad pages of police department. His wife had a miscarriage and after three years they have two good news – she is pregnant again and news about Rahim’s brother Umar in Chennai. They are heading to Chennai looking out for Umar.
Sullurpettai: Saroja (Anushka), a sex-worker aspires to start her own business and rushes to Chennai along with her friend Karpuram.
Bangalore: Bharath (Bharath) and his rock band are all set to perform a concert for the first time in Chennai. As they miss their flight, the group makes it through roadways.
Main Plot: Terrorists have plotted a very big attack plan (based on Mumbai 26/11) at a Government Hospital.
Hats off to Silambarasan for a mind-boggling performance… Never expected such an appealing effort from the actor. Though the actor had potentials, he never got such a script to perform at his best.Watch out for his performance during last 25minutes as he keeps our eyes without a blink. Finally, it’s tears rolling down our eyes. Bharath on pars tries to utilize this opportunity and of course, it’s a good comeback. Anushka doesn’t have much to perform, but her act during climax is splendidly superb. Prakash Raj overreacts at many portions. But then, the climax part is again the best for him as well. But, it’s Saranya stealing the show with her emotions. The actress leaves us transfixed with her astounding act and so is the actor in the role of father-in-law.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s ‘Vaanam’ song is the biggest highlight of the movie. As the makers affirmed that it’s the soul of complete movie, it proves to be. ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’ is completely unwanted for the film, though it’s stylishly shot.
Welcome Krish!!! We await a whole lot of movies from your side. Continue to make such movies.
Verdict: Stunning and best
