Actor Vimal who has been riding high on success with back to back hits like Pasanga and Kalavaani is back with the film Ethan. The film is produced by ‘Kalavaani’ Nazir under the banner Sherali films and has story, screenplay, dialogues and direction by L.Suresh. Sanusha of Renigunta fame is Vimal’s love interest and Jayaprakash plays a substantial role. Music has been scored by new comer Taj Noor.
Mazhaiyudhir Kaalam...

Vocals: Vijay Yesudas, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar

The eclectic chemistry between the singers’ voices is the stand out factor. The usual melody and soft instrumentals, this song soothes but has nothing novel.
Kannadasan...
Vocals: Ananthu, Solarsai, Sri Ranjani
Lyrics: Pon Eravindhan

Attention grabbing ‘dappankuthu’ with a medley of new voices. The very familiar piece of percussion mix recurs every now and then. This song might work its way into the charts.
Ethan Kalambittanya...
Vocals: MLR Karthikeyan, Bhagyaraj, Rap Remi, NM Akthar
Lyrics: S.A. Nanakaravel
Rap Remi is the newest ‘rap’ kid in the block! A foot tapping number loaded with western beats and Tamil lyrics, the song’s best quality is its short duration. An absolute party song!
Sivappu Thamaraiye...
Vocals: Ananthu
Lyrics: Uvari. K. Sukumar

Pretty much novel compared to what we have been hearing so long, this turns out to be an impressive solo number. Soft strains of tambura in between the song make it all the more lovely.
Kalaiyile Kan Vizhichu...
Vocals: Vel Murugan
Lyrics: Andal Priyadarshini
This song is in the lines of Ilaiyaraja’s Thenpaandi Cheemaiyile. A short number, it is commendable for the sober voice of the singer and the arrangement of the instruments.
Jim Jim Para Para...

Vocals: Mathangi, Roopa, Taj Noor
Lyrics: Andal Priyadarshini

A hassle free song with a mix of folk and local beats. A small piece of instrumental music (should I call it music?) keeps recurring all through the song and that sounds curiously like a dysfunctional vehicle horn. Just a dance number and nothing more.
Kadana Kodutha Nanba...

Vocals: Mukesh
Lyrics: Kabilan

It seems heavily inspired from a lot of songs that it is hard to point out any particular song that sounds like this one. A youthful number with lyrics that is sure to hit the right note with young men and boys.
Verdict: A variety fare
