Mappillai Music Review

Mappillai Music Review
Banner: Sun Pictures
Production: Kalanidhi Maaran
Direction: Suraaj
Star-casts: Dhanush, Hansika Motwani, Manisha Koirala
Music: Manisharma
Lyrics: Viveka, Pa. Vijay & Sneghan
Following the huge success of ‘Padikadhavan’ and ‘Aadukalam’, Sun Pictures and Dhanush come together third time for the movie ‘Mappillai’. Unlike ‘Aadukalam’, the song has the same touch of ‘Padikadhavan’ as the complete song has commercial shades.
Aaru Padai…
Singers: Vijay Yesudas & Mukesh
Lyrics: Viveka
Vijay Yesudas had earlier crooned a song in favor of Lord Murugan in Ajith Kumar starrer ‘Billa’ that had Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring music. Now he gets back into the same arena of singing praises on Lord Murugan. The lyrics penned by Viveka are fit to be used for temple festivals. Mukesh exerts his ability of carrying the song well.
Love Love …
Singers: Rahul & Rita
Lyrics: Sneghan
Sneghan gives an underrated performance over his lyrics as the lines are so normal and clichéd. The vocalism by Rahul and Rita is mediocre. The song lacks spirit and for sure audiences would walk out of theatres for taking a leak as it doesn’t hold the attention. Maybe it will work out if visuals are done with excellence.

Onnu Rendu…
Singers: Mukesh & Saindhavi
Lyrics : Pa. Vijay
Nothing special about the song as it’s a usual commercial track. The song sounds similar to Manisharma’s ‘Parrare’ in Telugu movie ‘Stalin’. Even the chorus parts and instrumentals are orchestrated with the same approach. The songs also reminiscences of ‘Vanga Kadal Ella’ from ‘Sura’…..

Ready Readya…
Singers: Ranjith & Saindhavi
Lyrics: Sneghan
Sounds like the song are set in backdrops of ‘First Night’ and Sneghan passionately writes the lyrics suiting the tastes of frontbenchers. The lines are so vulgar filled with double entendres. Ranjith and Saindhavi try adding to their best. But overall, the song has no chances of standing out as a good number. Let us hope the same team that is objecting to songs with obscene meanings comes up with the same gesture for this number as well. The remix version has some additional beats.

Ennoda Rasi..
Singers: Ranjith, & Chorus
The song needs no introduction. ‘Ennoda Rasi’ is an evergreen chartbuster for Ilayaraja’s musical score and Superstar Rajnikanth’s dance. The song has been a favorite one for everyone, especially across the suburban areas and now Dhanush has chosen it. Ranjith does it with panache with Manisharma adding some extra touch in interludes.

Mappillai Theme Song
Manisharma doesn’t prove anything different here as he beats the same bush here. The lyrics are so stereotyped. The music director has already used the same pattern of music in his previous Tamil movies. But with the visuals and placement theme song, it may grab everyone’s attention.
On the whole, ‘Mappillai’ doesn’t have any song worthy hearing to. Except the ‘remix’ (not the exact term to say ‘remix) of ‘Ennoda Raasi’, none of them captures our senses.

Verdict: Below Average…
