S.S. Kumaran holds a decent track record of having delivered some good melodies in the past that goes inclusive of ‘Poo’ and ‘Kalavani’. ‘Theneer Viduthi’ boasts of some good numbers and we bring you a sneak music review of this movie.

The song is a typical native number that reminiscences of several numbers of the same genre. The melody part is fine and so are the lyrical lines penned by Murugan Manthiram. Perhaps, S.S. Kumaran could have stayed away from rendering this number and a singer like Srinivas or Karthik would have been better while the female singers have done their parts well.

The song starts on an interesting note of an interlude comprising of saxophone and piano followed by Kousik’s top-notching vocalism. This singer is sure to have a great time in Kollywood. Murugan Manthiram again comes up with good lyrics. Much alike the previous number, Kumaran brings in the chorus of children in between the lines.

Kumaran goes the Ilayaraja way as the melody has some instrumentals that are played the similar style of maestro. Kudos to Sona Mohabatra as she sticks to the core of evoking the emotional pathos of a girl about her beau….  Listen to the instrumental version of ‘Oru Maalai Pozhudhinil’ and you’re sure to fall in love with the melodious flute and violins. Hats off to Kumaran for his excellent work.

The song isn’t captivating as the previous numbers. Though the musical part is impressive, we don’t find the vocal part to be a commendable one. S.S.Kumaran stumbles down the way while crooning the song with his bass voice. Maybe, he can try his luck with the songs that has some high pitches.

‘Ye Evan Panthakaaran’ is a peppy song that will make high at places if the visuals are done on par with excellence. S.S. Kumaran has penned lyrics for
this short-duration song. The interlude parts over the whistle and beats on accompaniments is spectacular.

Final Take: On the whole, ‘Theneer Viduthi’ has a captivating number like ‘Oru Maalai Pozhudhinil’ and its instrumental version standing out as best numbers.
