Deiva Thirumagal – Tamil Movie Review

‘I am Sam’, ‘ My Left Foot’, ‘Rain Man’ – The classic masterpieces from Hollywood have inspired director Vijay to render his tale of relationships.  ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ had more reasons to keep up the expectation levels.  The National award winner Vikram giving a perfect intro to the film with his ne plus ultra performance in the first look teaser was more than enough to raise our hands for applause.  Following was G.V.  Prakash’s wonderful music for the album that had almost all the songs on top of charts.  Some controversies pertaining to the film’s title was then into picture.
Finally, UTV Motion Pictures picked ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ with a promising agenda of taking it globally.  Released with 250 screens this morning, the film has an astounding performance by Vikram and other artists as well.
Wanna know more about the film? Have a glimpse upon the film followed by distinct analysis.
Krishna (Vikram) possessing the mental capacity of a 5-year old child works at a chocolate factory near Ooty.  On delivering a beautiful baby girl Nila (Sara), his wife Baanu passes away, thereby leaving Krishna to raise the child.  Soon as the relatives of the ceased Baanu find Nila, they take her away under their custody.  Helpless Krishna seeks aid of an unsuccessful lawyer Anuradha (Anushka), who hasn’t handled any cases.
In the process of helping Krishna, Anu learns the value of love, relationship and what is life all about.  His ideals not alone influence her, but every character he comes across.
The film completely belongs to Vikram for he tries adding perfection to each and every scene.  To be precise, it’s not an easy effort to perform such an unique character.  The actor must have gone through a toilsome moments both physically and mentally.  There are no other options that Vijay would have got other than casting Vikram.  He completely diminishes his image in previous films and that’s the power of an excellent performer.  Sara, the little girl cherishes us with her divine looks and in fact performs well on par with senior actors.
A big surprise from Anushka as she gets a first full-length film to showcase her performance… She gets equal footage as Vikram and indeed overshadows the protagonist during more portions in second half.  Let’s hope the actress continues to streak success with such roles in mere future.  Amala Paul is just for the sake of gaining attraction through ad boards as she has nothing to perform.  However, she looks beautiful with her makeovers and costumes.  Santhanam with his usual gimmicks steals the show and leaves us in complete laughter at places.  Nasser is remarkable with his performance and again no other actor would have done justice to this role.  MS Bhaskar, Sachin and other actors have done exactly what is required for the role.
G.V.  Prakash adds more soul to the visuals with his stirring background score and his work on ‘Life is Beautiful’ is applauding.  The song ‘Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavil’ is a visual treat while the situational song ‘Jagadadhom’ is impressive.  Nirav Shah’s coloring of screens is yet another reason that will keep you intact with the portions that are slightly sluggish.
As mentioned earlier, director Vijay has lifted certain scenes from several movies like ‘I am Sam’, ‘Color of Paradise’, etc.  The duration of 2hrs45mins becomes a big minus and if narrated with a crisp screenplay, the film would have been yet more finer.
On the whole, ‘Deiva Thirumagal’ is one of the best films in Vikram’s career and so for the other actors.  But when it comes down to commercial success, the producers cannot be assured at ease for they’ll have to wait for another week .
Vigorous promotions and Good word of mouth publicity will help it gain a good position in box office.
